This year's annual "Nick the Real Estate Guy" Tuna Hunter fishing charter was not productive as a Gloucester tuna fishing charter, but did turn out to be a productive cod & haddock fishing charter .

Always a good time, always good fishing and great to see good friends keep in touch through the years. As for this year's fishing, cod was strong, but the bluefin eluded us, though conditions looked good in the morning with jumping bluefin in several areas. We had live bait, the baits looked great sitting beneath the kite, all systems were go - just no hungry stupid tuna took the bait. That's fishing!

To wrap up the day, we switched gears to do some bottom fishing, and quickly were into sizeable cod, haddock and pollock and cusk.

Bluefin tuna are here in force, in all sizes. Tuna Hunter will be fishing through October for bluefin tuna , stripers and cod & haddock. As the tuna action heats up, dates are filling in. You should be then next one hooked up!

Team Salty had an awesome tuna charter aboard Tuna Hunter Fishing Charters. Justin and Stu, from the west coast in California, wanted to see some east coast bluefin tuna action.

Tuna Hunter put Team Salty right on the meat, traveling to Stellwagon Bank to schools of jumping bluefin tuna. A combination of bait, jigs and lures, and the kite, of course, the Tuna Hunter crew tempted this bluefin to the hook on a light rod (as opposed to the giant rods). Justin and Stu battled the bluefin standup using our favorite OHO and Smitty fighting belts. fine angling! and some fine well-earned sushi.

The fishing grounds are healthy with bluefin tuna of all sizes, jumpers and big marks, plus plenty of cod & haddock for some bottom fishing action.

The bluefin tuna catch is on! The Gloucester bluefin tuna fishing bite is on.

The Boyslton crew can attest to that, as they battled two 200 pound bluefin tothe boat. One was retained for the grill, one lives on to grow into a giant. The hit is both cases was awesome - huge splash on the surface, followed by a screaming reel. Anglers traded off battling these beasts as nin these cases we fought the fish from the rod holder. (In similar situaitons, we can fight tuna standup using 50's - an even more intense battle!).

Bubba's Boys had an awesome day aboard Tuna Hunter Fishing Charters, limiting out of cod early in the day and continuing to catch and release hefty cod to 25 pounds throughout the afternoon.

Tuna Hunter put Bubba's Boys right on the meat, employing norwegian jigs with a mix of clams thrown in. This combination held for the entire day with only minor adjustments needed. An awesome crew, Bubba's Boys had good arms to fish hard all day long.

These guys from Southbridge spent an afternoon on Tuna Hunter loading up on codfish. This inshore spot is great for a quick getaway when time is short for going out to Stellwagen or Jeffries. Key thing was to get the family together for an afternoon on the water. The usual bait and jigs apply.

The weather was not the greatest but as we've said before fish don't care and hit jigs for the most part. These guys fished hard to put a nice catch together. And had a blast along the way. Jigs prevail for cod, as in the past few weeks.

Tata's Walkers - fishing for cod & haddock when they're not walking for breast cancer - joined Tuna Hunter for Gloucester Cod & Haddock Fishing on Memorial Day weekend. The trip opened the holiday weekend with great fishing - the usual mix of jigs and clams, with jigs prevailing as the favorite. The team went home with plenty of cod for fish dinners, and sore arms.

The Big Dogs from Moriah - Cod Fishing on Tuna Hunter!

The Big Dogs from Moriah took in some Gloucester Cod & Haddock Fishing on Saturday aboard Tuna Hunter Fishing Charters.

Though a bit foggy above the surface underneath the fish paid no mind. Cod fishing was prime all morning, with cod to 15 and 20 pounds. The cod were hitting on jigs and teasers for the most part. Clams produced some fish in the AM, but jigs ruled.

n the afternoon, as a low pressure moved in, fishing slacked off a bit, but a switch of spots and techniques produced results, this time more haddock than cod, with bait being the favorite over jigs.

Stellwagen Bank abounds with sand eels, and the cod are filling up on them as they please. Cod and haddock fishing will remain strong into the summer months. Spring Break Fishing for Tuna Hunter in the Florida Keys

Spring Break for Tuna Hunter!

In an unprecedented spring break maneuver, Tuna Hunter was bribed down to Islamorada in the Florida Keys for a few days of awesome fishing for bonefish, tarpon, dolphin and sailfish.

While it was hard to leave Gloucester Cod & Haddock Fishing, the timing was perfect to avoid some bad weather and high winds in the north.

Might as well bend a rod somewhere!
High winds made for some challenging boating, but the desire to fish prevailed. Offshore, trolling to locate pods of dolphn, then casting to hook additional turquoise wonders. Nothing beats the acrobatics of a snared dolphin ... twists ,flips, twirls and turns ... incredible!

Except, perhaps, to hook into a sailfish. That acrobatics show is also incredible. And for us New Englanders, a sailfish is a treat.

We are back! A short, productive trip to the Keys has us jazzed for full-time New England cod & haddck fishing. We hare tuna have been spotted off of Virginia, and they are headed our way. The Westchester Connection - Awesome Gloucester Cod Fishing

The Westchester Connection aboard Tuna Hunter Fishing Charters

What can be better than the summer-in-April weekend ... spending that weekend on the water, Cod & Haddock Fishing, of course.

Friday's fishing was "ridiculous", with limits of cod being reached by mid-morning. (current NMFS regulations call for 10 cod per angler; no bag limit on haddock). Anglers were happy to focus on tasty haddock for the remainder of the day.

On Saturday, the early morning drift yielded some cod, to get everyone warmed up. The real action started when Captain Gary Cannell chose to anchor over several hot spots. Cod to 20lbs hit Norwegian jigs, aiming for herring, but hitting the hook and landing aboard Tuna Hunter. Haddock - boatloads of haddock - preferred the clams throughout this weekend. Saturday's haddock bite was steadier and continued later in the day. The Westchester guys were fishing all day long, reeling all day long, which is what we all aim for.

Typical to all trips in the spring, the breezes offshore and 45 degree water keep it much cooler than the 80's on shore. As the water warms up, expect migrating striped bass and eventually bluefin tuna to move into our area.

There is plenty of life out on both Jeffries Ledge and Stellwagen Bank: sand eels, herring, pods of whales. It all looks promising to attract and hold quality fish throughout our summer season.

We hope you all had a good winter.

2008 was a fantastic fishing year, and we are looking forward to more of the same in 2009.

The early morning drift yielded a fit cod, but not what the captain was

Last year in June the mackerel moved in thick, leading in the migrating striped bass. Those early-season bass can be huge, and it sure gets one back into the fishing season with a blast. Plan your striped bass fishing charters now for the best dates.

Re Tuna, we look forward more Kite Fishing for Tuna on that same year-class of bluefin tuna. Just image fighting those same tuna standup, reel screaming, battling that fish - only it's BIGGER this year! We expect some of those bluefin to be in Giant range this season.

We are excited to be able to bring you a stream of information on Tuna Hunter Fishing Charters, the latest in regulations, the bait situation, what's happening with bluefin tuna, where the stripers are, and more.
